Intermittent Water Outages

Over the course of the next few days, City of Erin water customers throughout the system will be experiencing intermittent water outages as we continue to try to gain water in the storage tanks, look for leaks throughout the system and repair any that are found.  All customers, please check your own lines for possible problems when you do have water.  Also call us if you notice any thing suspicious near any water lines areas.

Water Notice

The City of Erin water department has had problems last night and today and we are trying to work through them and we need our customers to help by conserving as much water as possible, drip faucets don't run a stream.

Please conserve water as much as possible. A steady drip will keep the water moving in your lines to prevent freezing, not a stream. The employees are out doing everything possible. We can not control the weather and the issues single digit temperatures bring.

If your water meter needs to be turned off due to frozen pipes or a water leak and please call or text 9313053883 and leave a message with your name, telephone number and address. Messages are being monitored off site and will be relayed to city workers. You can also call the non-emergency central dispatch number at 289-2911 to report a water leak or need assistance turning off your water meter.

It is vital that customers report any leaks or frozen pipes in order to allow the tank levels to rise during the day. Increased levels during the day will ensure adequate levels to maintain during the night when faucets are being dripped. Also, conserve water by not washing clothes unless necessary and limit water usage at night except for dripping your faucets.

Please excercise the following tips to prevent frozen pipes during frigid cold temperatures:

  • Open interior cabinet doors to allow the warm air to circulate around pipes.
  • At NIGHT ONLY, open the cold and hot water taps to a steady drip not a stream. This is only necessary during freezing temperatures. It's usually not necessary to drip the faucets if a home has a basement.
  • Know where you shut off valve is located in case the water pipes freeze and a leak occurs. Usually, frozen pipes mean a water leak. The expansion of ice will cause cracks in the pipe causing a water leak once the ice thaws.
  • Call either (931) 305-3883 or 289-2911 to report frozen pipes or a water leak.
